Leuke hoor al die blogs door "liefhebbers", maar als je dan plots leest hoe het ook kan; Jon Savage (England's Dreaming, Kinks bio etc.) en Miriam Linna (Cramps, A-Bones, Kicks, Norton) Tja, dan kan je alleen maar heeeeeel blij zijn met dat interweb...

Funky Africa: Legends of Benin
The Analog Africa label already provided us with several beautifull releases, their latest compilation African Scream Contest really hit the funky spot. The upcoming fifth collection focuses on Benin. If you dig Fela Kuti and other Nigerian sounds you'll need this!
Legens of Benin contains super rare and highly danceble masterpieces recorded between 1969 and 1981 by four legendary composers from Benin, Antoine Dougbe, El Rego, Honore Avolonto and Gnonnas Pedro, each one of them with their own distinct sound. The compilation comes with a 40 page full colour booklet with ultra rare pictures and biographies. Compiled by Samy Ben Redjeb, and of course all tracks fully licensed, release May 15th!

15 Mei, Elec'tropical Night; Digital dub & cumbia @ Vechtclub, with special artists Douster (FR/AR), Sonido del Principe (NL), Saxixa (NL) & Rebel Up! DJ (BE)De Vechtclub & Rebel Up! Soundclash present an electropical night filled with the newest South American sounds. The sensual cumbia is back from the past and is scorching hot in Argentina at the moment, especially in the capital Buenos Aires. Since a few years a lot of young musicians have been combining old & villera cumbia’s with a heavy dubby bass, lots of bass! Now for the first time, a night full of these new sounds in Utrecht, better believe it! De Vechtclub is a new theatre/warehouse in Overvecht-Zuid, of which the interior is made from recycled materials and a mud wall! Cheap drinks, good vibes and an easy to reach location tucked away from residential area's.
Expect digital dub and heavy bass with electronic cumbia, plus more rough global sounds!
Douster (FR/ARG)Born & raised in the French near-alpine city of Lyon. Since 2 years he has been living in Buenos Aires and is part of the eclectic ZZK crew. His sound is a thick stew of roots, hiphop and electronica, extra spiced with the rhythms of cumbia and baile funk. A hefty cocktail with lots of swagger alcohol for the dancefloor. De 27 uur van Europa
De 27 uur van Europa "Een avond met optredens van schrijvers, bands en politici die allemaal een bijzondere link hebben met Europa of een bepaald Europees land. Het vindt plaats van 21.00 tot 2.00 uur in de Pastoe fabriek, Rotsoord 3 in Utrecht. De schrijvers Frank Westerman, Robert Vuijsje, Manon Uphoff en Kader Abdolah vertellen Europese verhalen en er zijn optredens van Moke en Voicst. Minster van Onderwijs, Cultuur en Wetenschap Ronald Plasterk is voor een keer terug in zijn oude rol als columnist en er is een afsluitende toespraak van Frans Timmermans, de staatssecretaris van Buitenlandse Zaken. Timmermans reist 27 uur door Nederland, waarbij hem in iedere provincie een speciaal Europa-programma wordt aangeboden. Vandaar dat de Utrechtse avond een late night show wordt. De presentatie is in handen van Leon Verdonschot. Het is gratis toegankelijk, maar de capaciteit is beperkt."
